Bio:
David-Christian was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. Of Mexican descent and raised in that environment, he experienced the sounds of Mexican music at an early age. A visit to his grandparents was always an opportunity to hear the recordings of singers from the "La Voz De Oro" era like Javier Solis, Jorge Negrete, Pedro Infante, Jose Alfredo Jimenez and the songs of composer Augustin Lara.
In El Paso he organized his own Mariachi group at the age of 19 and toured throughout Texas and New Mexico playing for fairs, weddings, political rallies and restaurants. Inevitably, he and his Mariachi were invited to perform at the prestigious Mariachi Conferences in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, El Paso and Guadalajara, Mexico.
He later attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces where in addition to receiving a degree in engineering he also enrolled in classical voice and music composition. While attending NMSU, he had the opportunity to teach the first Mariachi Class ever offered at that university.
Currently David-Christian resides in Orlando, Florida, where he continues to be influenced by the music of Mariachi Cobre and performs as soloist with Mariachi Classico. Because of his love for music and his commitment to improving himself, David-Christian continues to study voice with Manny Lujan and rhythm instrumentation with the members of Mariachi Cobre.
David-Christian is a versatile and conscientious musician with a very fine voice reminiscent of Javier Solis. He is an accomplished performer on the guitarron, guitar, vihuela and the trumpet with tremendous technique making him the consummate Mariachi performer of his day deeply steeped in the traditions of Mariachi. His versatility does not end here. David-Christian is as comfortable singing Latin Pop or Pop as he is singing Mariachi and was a finalist in the Florida Super Singer competition in 2006.
David-Christian says "My culture, which was bequeathed to me by my family and my ancestors, is beautiful and vibrant and I would like to share it with the world through its music. Although I know that not everyone can sing my songs vocally they can carry them in their hearts. Through my songs, and for a few brief moments, I am able to connect with my audience and transmit my culture's passion."
